healed photo tips

It’s super helpful & appreciated for your tattooer to see how your tattoo healed up! Tattooers love to see any healed photo, but here’s a short list of tips for how to take a pro healed photo that will make our day.

  • Take photos in natural, indirect lighting. This likely means during the day, inside, about 6-10 feet back from a window, in even, bright light. Not with sunlight shining directly on the tattoo, but in a place that is bright and evenly lit.

  • Use a neutral backdrop. Like a mostly empty wall, in a neutral color like black, white, beige, or grey.

  • Have someone else take the photo for you! This way they can get down and hold the phone or camera on the same level as your tattoo, so it’s not at an angle and hard to see.

  • Stand as neutrally as possible. Stand even, shake your shoulders out, let your arms and legs relax naturally, so you’re not stretching the tattoo too far in any direction.

  • Take a couple. From a couple angles, or even in different lighting, so your tattooer can see every part of the tattoo!

  • Don’t use a thick lotion that will create glare. If your skin is dry you can definitely rub in a little lotion, but don’t use anything super thick and shiny or it’ll obscure the tattoo.

These are all totally just suggestions, but really do help to make a Super Great Healed Tattoo Photo! Thank you!
